Mike will be in charge. Work will progress as normal. Come out and join us. Also Gene is usually at the museum most Fridays if that better fits your schedule. Call or email him for confirmation of the date. SIGNAL GARDEN: Last weekend, Allen, Gary and Ron continued work on the installation of the new crossing gate in the Signal Garden. Mounting bolts were cut down (they stuck up to far above the concrete), and the conduits were cut to an inch above the pad. Zeke and the Grove crane then once again came to our rescue by picking up the gate mechanism which had been lying behind the store and placing it on the pad where the mounting nuts were secured. They also installed the lens assembly in the recently installed dwarf signal and added temporary wiring to light up the dwarf. Permanent wiring will be installed as part of the gate and flasher installation in the near future. The dwarf is now glowing red. Continued weeding of the garden has been an on-going project for Joyce O'Connor and Don Robinson. They''ve even planted some new plants recently which has really improved it's appearance. Thanks again Joyce and Don. ALPINE CROSSING WIG-WAG: Paul Khoury once again had to work on a sluggish east-side Wig-Wag at the main entrance crossing. After changing the adjustment screw (to a longer one) on one of the main contacts, the Wig-Wag seemed to be operating properly again. Now we all have to watch it to see if it is reliable. Paul also adjusted the bell on the Wig Wag to give a more even and consistent tone. MIDDLETON SIGNAL TROUBLESHOOTING: Gene, Allen, and Gary troubleshot a problem with the southbound Middleton signal -- it displayed a "red over red" instead of the expected "red over yellow" for the PE-418. They could not reproduce the problem and suspected the diesel siding push-button (which gives a timed clear for the traffic on the siding to enter the main line) of sticking or otherwise mis-behaving. Repeated tests of the timer circuit showed no issues and the problem did not repeat with several following trains. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For additional OERM Signals information, visit the signals website at: http://gsee.sdf-us.org/signals.
