Those present were Gene, Ron, Allen, Mike, Paul Orton, Paul Khoury, Bob, Melanie, and Ray Hirth. SIGNAL GARDEN: Allen, Ron, and Paul Orton moved the Santa Fe motor car indicator that has been temporarily sitting by the garden entrance to its new location next to the other MCI -- they are now side-by-side. Next they installed a pre-fab concrete battery case for the recently installed (but not yet operational) crossing gate. The concrete battery case is to the left of the crossing gate where the "bush" use to be next to the walk. Joyce is trying to salvage what is left of the bush but it may not survive. They did a very through job of removing the bush. The battery case will need conduit over to the push button post and batteries installed. Also, Allen made shims for the crossing gate and these need to be installed to make the mast vertical. The (not needed) crossing gate turntable has been moved out back They located two bases "out-back" for use with the two new tricolor signals that will be installed on the right side of the entrance walk. Now that we have identified the bases, we can install the J-bolts foundation for the tricolor signals so we will be out of Joyce's way. We also need to install the two push button posts for the new tricolor signals. A suggestion was made that we pour a concrete walk. This winter we will hopefully form and grade the walk but we're hoping other museum volunteers who are more expert with large concrete pours will do the finish work. We're not sure we can handle a ready mix truck and finish the walk before the cement starts to set. MISCELLANEOUS: The Hirths, Mike and Gene relocated storage boxes from the former site of the storage trailer. Some are now in the signal's "field of possibilities" area and one has been modified for use in the Signal Shop. They also helped move the turntable and battery box to/from the storage area. They then (with help from Paul Khoury) rearranged some of the shop storage, moving some material into the boxcar, and put the AFTACs for Oil Junction into the Oil Jct bungalow. There is considerably more rearrangement needed for storage both in the shop area and the bungalows. When the storage is better arranged, we also have several pallets of relays stored on outdoor pallets under tin boxes that need a more permanent home. Ron has increased our electric power for the shop and will be giving us full 220 volts in the fall. He has also gotten a supply of split bolts and Kernys that only we use. They will have to be separated from the larger sizes that are used by the line gang. A burned out light was changed at Mapes Crossing. JULY SIGNALS MEETING NOTICE: --- SATURDAY JULY 24th --- This is our regular 4th Saturday workday this month. Also Gene is usually at the museum most Fridays if that better fits your schedule. Call or email him for confirmation of the date. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For additional OERM Signals information, visit the signals website at: http://gsee.sdf-us.org/signals.
