They also completed the base for the new three position single color dwarf and it's push button post. They located a 4 inch mast for the PE signal but it will have to be cut and drilled. All the conduits for the new dwarf and AT&SF signal are in. SOUTHBOUND MIDDLETON SIGNAL EMERGENCY REPAIR: The previous Saturday Mike and Gene traced failure of the lower head of the SB Middleton signal to another broken wire in the cable from Alpine. There were no more spares so operations has had to stop and get the dispatcher's permission to pass the red signal to go on the diverging route to the Barn 4 lead. Today, Mike and Gene installed a temporary replacement cable to restore normal operation. This once again made the southbound diverging signal (lower head) at Middleton operative and properly displays Red, Lunar and Yellow according to track occupancy. The broken cable has been bypassed with a temporary cable along the track at the tie ends from the entrance pedestrian crossing to the Middleton Signal. Everyone must exercise caution to not damage the temporary cable nor trip over it. This temporary cable will be used until we have the use of a bucket truck to install the permanent overhead replacement. MONTHLY CROSSING INSPECTIONS: This past Saturday Gene did the monthly crossing inspections.
